It is possible that discontinuation of oxytocin will reduce of the risk of adverse events in mother and child during labour and after delivery. Discontinuation may be at the expense of a longer duration of the active phase of labour.
If you need stimulation with oxytocin during labour, this treatment will be initiated regardless of the project’s existence.
The infusion (dosage) will be administered according to local guidelines, also in the period where you receive project medicine. We expect no side effects to the oxytocin treatment to occur than those already known.
Your treatment arm will be determined by randomisation. Neither you nor the staff at the delivery ward will know which infusion you will be assigned to. If medical indications for stopping oxytocin stimulation occur, the infusion will be regulated as if you were not a participant.
